... אלה נתמנו מנהלי "הסדנאות העירוניות" אשר נוסדו
בחודש אפריל 1942, ואילו המנהל הראשי היה גראיוור.
במוסד החדש תמכו באופן פעיל נשיא "העזרה היהודית
העצמית" ד״ר ליב לנדאו, וד״ר מהרר, עסקן ידוע
של אגודת בעלי־המלאכה היהודים בלבוב. מייסדי
הסדנאות קיוו להציל בעזרת מפעלי־התעשיה כמה
אלפי מובטלים יהודים, לא רק מחוגי הפועלים ובעלי־
המלאכה, אלא גם מחוגי האינטליגנציה היהודית.
ב״בתי־המלאכה העירוניים" נפתחו מחלקות לתעשיה
זעירה של כל מיני גלנטריה, חפצי־מותרות, סלים,
מברשות, כריכת־ספרים, לבנים וכובעי־נשים, תיבות
נייר, חפצי־עור קטנים וכד׳־רוב המקצועות היו קלים
ללימוד, ואפשר היה לקבל לעבודה בעלי מקצועות־
חפשיים לשעבר: עורכי־דין, כלי־קודש, מורים, סוחרים
וכר בתקוה שילמדו את המלאכה בזמן קצר־והם
נתקבלו גם לעבודות אחרות בסדנאות, עבודות שלא
הצריכו כל הכנה "מקצועית". בין השוערים ושומרי־
הלילה של הסדנאות היו: הפסנתרן המפורסם ליאופולד
מינצר, עו״ד ד״ר יוליוס מנקס, העתונאי ד״ר אדולף
