במלחמתם נגד שיי״ר לא נרתעו מתנגדיו הצעירים
אפילו מלהזיק לפרנסתו בתור רב. כאשר הוזמן
לשבת על כסא הרבנות בפראג, כתבו לנכבדי הקהילה
לעוררם לבטל את מועמדותו. שיי״ר ענה להתקפותיהם
בשני מכתבים ב״כרם חמד״ 11—12, 1814, למעשה
לא, תרם "הרואה" תרומה חיובית להתפתחות הספרות,
בגלל דרך פולמוסו השלילי והאישי. מפני האופי
התוקפני עזב יעקב מש את הקבוצה. בודק, פישמן
ומוהר הוציאו בזולקוב (1844), בלבוב ופראג (1845)
