בכשרונותי והאדמיניסטרטיביים, ביחוד בשטח האספקה
העירונית. ביוני 1915 לקחוהו הרוסים כבן־תערובות והגלוהו
לקיוב. באוגוסט 1916 חזר ללבוב ונתמנה כסגן־הקומיסר
הממשלתי של העיר. בתפקיד זה ארגן את האספקה והקים
עשרות בתייתמחוי למען מחוסרי־האמצעים. אחרי כיבוש
לבוב ע״י האוקראינים והתמוטטות המונרכיה באוסטריה
הציעו לו תיק של שר־האספקה בממשלת אוקראינה המע-
רבית׳ אולם הוא סירב לקבל את המינוי בהיותו פטריוט
פולני. ד״ר שלייכר היה מתבולל עקרוני, ונתמנה ע״י
הפולנים כחבר הועדה הממשלתית. בשנת 1919 נבחר כסגן
ראש־העיר ועמד בתפקידו עד 1927. ד״ר שלייכר השתתף
גם במפעלים יהודיים: היה חבר ועד־הקורטוריון של רשת
החינוך של ״קרן הברון הירש״. בשנת 1929 נבחר מטעם
הלא־ציונים כחבר מועצת הסוכנות היהודית. ...Connected nodes
