בין מפיצי ההשכלה היו גם סוחרים יהודים שהיו
מבקרים בירידים בגרמניה והם שהביאו אתם את
הידיעות על ההשכלה הברלינית ולעתים הפיצו גם
עלונים וספרי־השכלה. משכילים אלו הצטרפו בחוגים
סגורים, בהם למדו וקראו ספרי־חול. בין מפיצי ההשכלה
היו גם תלמידי האוניברסיטה ג)(בפקולטה למשפטים
היו בין 320 תלמידים 4 יהודים). גם הרופאים היהודים
ד״ר אהרן גוסמאן, ד״ר יעקבקארפפור ט (1772 —
1855) וחתנו קאשוביץ — רב היה חלקם בהפצת
ההשכלה. לימודי־חול היו כבר נפוצים במשפחות
