בנו, יעקב, קיבל חינוך מסורתי ולמד גם פילוסופיה. נשא לאשה את יוליאנא, בתו של בר בירקנטל ממבוליחוב, הידוע בהשתתפותו בויכוח עם יעקב פראנק.
יעקב עמד בבחינות־כניסה לפקולטה לפילוסופיה ואח״כ לרפואה, גמר את לימודיו בתואר ד״ר לרפואה בשנת 1804 10), התישב בלבוב והצליח מאד בעבודתו כרופא, הוא היה אהוב ומקובל על כל החוגים. בעבודתו כרופא לא קיבל שכר מעניים ולא פעם העניק מכספו לעני חולה וגם המציא לו תרופות. ד״ר יעקב רפפורט היה יהודי גאה והתעניין בחיי קהלתו. לפי דעתו "אין אנו צריכים להתבייש בעמנו (נאציאנאליטעט) בהיותנו בין אנשים ועמים שונים", הוא התנגד לקפוח השפה העברית, לשינויים בתפילות־ישראל או לתפילה בבתי־הכנסת בגרמנית, כפי שדרשו מתקנים קיצוניים בגרמניה. הוא גם היה מיוזמי ומיסדי בית־הכנסת לנאורים (טמפל) גג). ...Connected nodes
