1600. מחוגי האופוזיציה העירונית נודע להם,
שהעיריה מכרה ליהודים מגרשים שלא היו שייכים
לה. כאן מצאו הישועים הזדמנות נוחה להתקרב
למטרתם — להשיג מגרש לבנית קולגיום וכנסיה.
הם התחילו לחקור על היסוד החוקי לפיו רכשו
היהודים את מגרש ביודהכנסת ולפי איזה רשיון בנו
