זה היה משה וידברג (נספה בשואה). נוסף לחדרי בית־הס פעיל בו,
בחדר שבמרתף, קן "השומר הצעיר", בקומה הראשונה שכנה
הספריה וחדר הקריאה והעיון ובשניה אולם די גדול. ספריית בית
העם מנתה על סף חיסולה 5000 ספר, מהם כ־2000 באידיש, כמספר
הזה בפולנית, כ־800 בעברית וכ־300 בגרמנית. את הקמת הספריה
יזם משה ויזנטאל (משה ברכה׳ס־ כיום בארה״ב) והוא גם ארגנה
וניהלה בשנים הראשונות. בהתרחבות הצטרף אליו שלמה
שברצבאך (נספה במחנה יאנובסקה) ועזר לו במסירות רבה פייבל
גוטספלד. צוות זה תוגבר על ידי אברהם בילגורי, אשר ניהל
למעשה את הספריה עד לסגירתה והחרמתה על ידי השלטונות
הסובייטים ב־1939. בשנת 1933 נערכה תערוכה מרשימה של מבחר
הספרים בכל השפות והיא הפכה מאורע חגיגי לכל נאמניה. ...
