... בימים ההם נפל קרבן תמים שני בידי המרצחים. היה
בעיירתנו יהודי תמהוני, לייב שכטר, תלמיד חכם וירא שמים אבל
מהר בהליכותיו. בבוא הנאצים החל שכטר לשגר מכתבים אל
שלטונות המחוז ובהם מחאות על יחסם אל היהודים. יום אחד
הופיע ב״יודנראט" ה״ס.ס.־מאן" ברטשניידר, נהג הגסטאפו
בצ׳ורטקוב, צווה להוליכו אל לייב שכטר, הובילו אל חורשת קברי
הרוזנים גולוכובסקי, רצח אותו ופקד על ה״אורדנונגסדינסט"
לטמון את הגופה. רוצח זה נאסר לפני כמה שנים והועמד בפני
בית משפט במאנהיים שבגרמניה. הוא מת באטרם שהמשפט
