הגרמנים שכורי-הנצחון לא חשבו, כנראד., שיבוא יום
ויצטרכו לפנות את השטחים שנכבשו. כאחד האמצעים
לבסוס שלטונם ראו הפצת התרבות הגרמנית ויסוד
בתי-ספר גרמניים. וגם בסוקולקה התאמצו לד.פיץ את
השפד. הגרמנית בכל שטחי החיים. פתחו בתי-ספר גר-
מניים בשיטת "צוואנגס-שולע" (לימוד חובד.). יד.ודי
סוקולקה קבלו את הגזירד. של בתי-הספר הגדמניים
במרירות ובזעם. אנשי העיר שהיו דתיים לאומיים
לא יכלו להשלים, שילדיד.ם ינותקו מהלימודים המסו-
רתיים. אבל היו חסרי-אונים להתנגד לגזירת הגרמנים,
לפי הוראת השלטון היו צריכים לסגור את כל בתי-
הספר וד.חדרים ואת התלמוד-תורד. ולשלוח את ילדי
היד.ודים לבתי-ספר גרמניים.
