בתקופת המשטר הסובייטי עבר לחרקוב כממלא־מקום
הרב ר׳ אליהו־אהרן מילייקובסקי, שעלה אז לארץ־
ישראל ונעשה ראב״ד בתל־אביב. בימי מלחמת העולם
השניה, בפלישת הגרמנים הנאצים לפנים רוסיה עקר
ר׳ אברהם לסמרקאנד, חזר לחרקוב ונפטר שם בשנת
