אדמת כפר מל״ל נרכשה בשנת 1912 על-ידי אכרי
פתח-תקווה מאת שבט ערבי אבו־קישק, במרחק עשרה
קילומטר מפתח־תקווה. בפי הערבים נקרא המקום חור -
אל-וואווי, כלומר מאורת התנים. נטעו עשרות דונמים
שקדים וחורשות איקלפטוסים, בידי פועלים עבריים
שהובאו מפ״ת. גם יהושע חנקין קנה למען הקק״ל שטח
