שר, ראה ענין רב בעתיקות ידודיות, מצא את בית־הכנסת במצב מוזנח, קורות הגג רקובים, ודגג כולו במצב של התפוררות. בפנים הבית מצא לכלוך רב. חצי בית־הכנסת הפך למחסן תפוחי־אדמד,. על הרצפה התגלגלו רקמות יקרות. הבימד, שבורר, ובחלק ממנו השתמשו כעצי־הסקה. ארון־הקודש היפה עם חיטובי־יד העדינים וד,נדירים שדרו מעשר,־אמנות — אף הוא נמצא במצב מוזנח. בכלל, נמצא בית־הכנסת במצב של התפרקות, ולא היד. בעיר מי שיבין שיחס זד, לעתיקות יד,ודיות, וביותר למקום קדוש, הוא ממש שערוריד,. כך היו דברי תגובד, של נוצריה*, בראותו את בית־הכנסת בחורבנו. ...Connected nodes
