כפי הנראה "לא שפרה עליו נחלתו" של הרב ר׳ צבי
הירש משנתו הראשונה לבואו לסוקולקה. היו בין
הבעלי־בתים שצדדו בזכותו של המורה־הוראה בסוקול־
קה ובקשו שיתמנה כרב בקהלה בזכות היותו למדן
מופלג. אולם, במשך הזמן שככה המחלוקת והרב ר׳ צבי־
הירש דירקטור היה מקובל על כל החוגים של יהודי
סוקולקה, בזכות מעלותיו וסגולותיו בלמדנות, בעסקנות
צבורית וכאיש נימוסים, ובימיו נחשבה הרבנות סוקול־
קה כתור־הזהב של הרבנות בקהלה זו. רמזים על המח־
