בעודו בגיל צעיר נתבלט בכשרונותיו העילויים ובמדותיו
הנעלות, ובעודו בגיל הנעורים היה עסקן צבורי מובהק. בן ט״ז
נשא לאשה את פייגל בת ה״שפת אמת", והחתונה נערכה בגור.
בגור זכה לעלות ולהשתלם בתורה ובחסידות, וחיש נתפרסם
כגדול בתורת הנגלה והנסתר. אחרי החתונה נשאר סמוך על
שולחן חותנו ה״שפת אמת" ועסק בתורה ובחסידות, וחותנו האדמו״ר
הדריכו בדרכי החסידות. אצל חותנו היה נוהג לקום בחמש בבוקר
וללמוד שעורים שונים, עסק בלמודיו וחידש חידושי תורה ולא
עבר עליו יום שלא חידש בתורה, ובצוואתו הוא דרש מבניו ללמוד
בכל יום "קצת בעיון ומיתן לחדש מה, כי אין שעור לזה גודל
העניו לחדש מה בתורה הקדושה". הוא כתב חידושים על כל
מקצועות התורה, על התורה, ש״ס ורמב״ם וש״ע, ויותר מארבעים
ספר הניח אחריו בכ״י. צוואתו נדפסה בספרו "יכן פאר". מלבד
בתורה נגלית עסק גם בתורת הקבלה ולמדה ביהוד מפי מקובל
ארצישראלי ידוע שבא לפולין. ...Connected nodes
