... אמנם, כאשר נוסד בית־הספר "המזרחי" העבירנו ר׳ יהושע
לבית־ספר זה, בו הוא שימש זמן מסויים כמורה, אולם לא נטש
את "חדרו" והמשיך להרביץ תורה לדרדקי ישראל. מיטב חברי
בתנועות הנוער הציוניות וב״גורדוניה" היו מבין תלמידיו של
ר׳ יהושע, שגידלם כציונים ורבים מהם תופסים כעת עמדה בחיי
הציבור בארץ וזוכרים את חסד נעוריהם לרבם האהוב.
בית־הספר העממי הראשון בבנדין זכה למנהל רב מרץ וברוך
כשרונות, יהושע רפפורט המנוח, שעמד כשלושים שנה על
משמר החינוך בעירנו. היה מחנך בחסד ובעל השפעה גדולה על
מאות תלמידיו ומוריו גם יחד, שכולם הוקירוהו מפאת יכלתו
