עוד בהיותו נער לקח חלק פעיל בחיי הקלויז, היה מביא
לקלויז קערות תבשיל בימי הזכרון ובסעודות ראש־חודש שהיו
נהוגים בו (שכן אז, לפני מלחמת העולם הראשונה, ברחוב מודז׳־
יובסקה, ובאותו חצר היו עוד שגי קלויזים ואחר זה נתווסף גם
שלישי). מאותו זמן הוא מעלה בזכרונו יהודי קטן־קומה למעלה
מגיל השמונים, בשם ר׳ קלמן זיסקינד. כבוד מיוחד היו מחלקים
