בתעשית חמרי ברזל. אף על טרדותיו הרבות והצלחתו בניהול עסקיו
המשגשגים, לא התבודד ולא הסתגיר בד׳ אמות משלו, כעשירים
אחרים בעיר, ומצא נתיב וזמן להתמסר לחיי הצבור. ביתו היה
פתוח לכל דורש ונתון במצוקה ושימש גם כבית־ועד לשליחים
מארץ ישראל. ביאליק, לייב יפה, יצחק גרינבוים ושכמותם התארחו
בביתו, בשהותם בבנדין. אהב את ארץ־ישראל ונתן לצרכיה ביד
נדיבה. זכורני, פעם, לפני עשרות בשנים, ביקרתיו כדי להתרימו
בשביל קפא״י (קרן פועלי ארץ ישראל), ואם כי לא היה מחסידי
ארץ ישראל העובדת, הגיש לי המחאה ניכרת. יצאתי מביתו מעודד
