1■ בן למשפחת חסידי ביאלובז׳אג, למד בחדר ובישיבה ואחר־כך
בבית־המדרש, בר־אוריין גדול, וינק אף ממקורות ההשכלה. מנעוריו
חובב ציון נאמן. עבר לשבת בבנדין בשנת תרס״ו. היה סמוך אל
שולחן חותנו, ניסה כוחו במסחר, ולבסוף התפרנס על הבדחנות
בחתונות, שהצטיין בה. נתפרסם כבדחן בחסד, ונחשב בחיר הבדחנים
בכל הסביבה. עד מהרה יצא לו שם כמעין נובע של הומור עממי
