... ושוב, כעבור שבועיים, עוררו אותנו אנשי הגסטאפו בשעה
אחודעשרה בלילה. הם בחרו בחמישה־עשר יהודים — ובכללם
אברהם זילברשטיין ובני מנחם — והובילו אותם עמם. בטוחים
היינו שירצחום נפש. אולם לתמהוננו הרב חזרו כולם לאחר שעה
וסיפרו, שפלוגת הגסטאפו מאושביאנצ׳ים הובילה אותם לשדות,
למקומות בהם נקברו יהודים. איש הגסטאפו הוציא שעונו מכיסו
ואמר אליהם: — "ברשותכם רבע שעה לפתיחת הקברים והטענת
הגוויות על אוטדהמשא. אם תאחרו אירה בכם כמו בכלבים, ובאוטו
זה עצמו יוסעו עצמותיכם". מחזה של זוועה נתגלו לעיניהם.
באצבעות ידיהם אספו את שרידי הגוויות שהיו כבר במצב של
