בערי פולין המאוכלסות יהודים קמה תנועה אנטי־בריטית,
ואורגנו הפגנות ואספות־מחאה נגד האנגלים המפקירים את הישוב
היהודי. גם בעירנו נתארגנה באחד מימות ראשון, שהוא יום
מנוחה כללי, הפגנה ותהלוכה ברחובות העיר, שבה השתתפו כל
המפלגות הציוניות על דגליהן וסיסמאותיהן. ההפגנה רבת־העם,
שאליה נצטרפו סתם־יהודים, נעה ברחובות הראשיים וכאשר הגיעה
למגרש שליד ביתו של ר׳ חיים שיין ז״ל, ברח׳ מלכובסקאגן,
נתכנסו המפגינים לאספה והקשיבו לנואמים, שקראו תגר על אנגליה
