רבי נחום־זאב בורנשטין, שכיהן אחר כך ברבנות באולקוש
ובביאלה־רבתי, ובבנדים הכין עצמו הרך הנולד לתפקידו הנעלה.
ויש אומרים שלא נולד בבנדין גופה, כי־אם בכפר סמוך לבנדין,
ושהוא נתייתם בילדותו, ור׳ ליבוש לבקוביץ מזקני חסידי קוצק
בבנדין לקחו לביתו ופירנסו כמה שנים ואז למד וספג תורה הרבה,
ועוד בהיותו בן שש כבר נודע פעלו מקרוב ומרחוק, ותשובותיו
