... כמו בכל ישוב יהודי, השפיעו גם בחמילניק הידיעות
שהגיעו אחרי תום מלחמת העולם הראשונה על ״הצהרת
בלפור״ מטעם ממשלת בריטניד״ שעוררו את היהודים,
ובעיקר את הנוער למעשים נמרצים בעד בנין ארץ־ישראל
היהודית. מקודם בא מרצה מטעם הסתדרות הצױנית בפולין
עם מרכזה בװרשה לעורר את הרוחות• היה זה הנואם המוכשר
נתן מילײקובסקי, שנטה לרעױן המזרחי. עוד בשנת תרע״ח
הוא נאם בחמילניק בבית־הכנסת ובתיאטרון שלש פעמים,
והרצאותױ עזרו הרבה להתפשטות הרעױן הצױני והגברת
