... שעה שהשמיע רנ״צ את דברױ, חש רי״ב כי כוחותױ חוזרים אלױ, כי הוא מקבל שוב את מדרגותױ והשראת הקודש. ביתר שאת התחיל רי״ב לאמר דברי בדחמת מעל השולחן שהותקן במױחד לשם כך, ליד שולחן הצדיקים. בראשית דברױ אמר: אמנם ראוי אדם שישברו את לבו, כדי שלא יבוא לידי גאוה. אולם ״כתית למאור״ כתוב, שישברו ויכתתו לבו של אדם במדה כזו שלא יבוא לידי גאוד״ — ששברון הרוח יביא לידי מאור. אולם לא צױתה תורה חלילה ״כתית למנחות״ — שישברו לבו של אדם ויביאוהו לידי עצבות הגרועה מכל״ רבי ליפא שהבין את הרמז נעלב ויצא מן האולם. רי״ב לא נתפעל והמשיך בבדחנותו, לשמח את הנוכהים. אך לאחר מעשה זה נתפײם אתו רבי ליפא ונעשה אחר כך לאוהב נאמן.
