מלבד הישיבה הױ לומדים בחורים רבים בשטיבלאך.
יחםים מתוחים שררו בינינו׳ װיכוחים רבים ניטשו בינינו
כל השנים. בחורי השטיבלאך רצו להוכיח כי כוחם בתורה אינו
נופל מבוחנו. בראשם עמד ר׳ יצחק ישעיה זלצמן זצ״ל. שהיה
המתנגד החריף בױתר לישיבה. אך למרות התנגדיתו
הקיצונית לישיבה בה למדתי גילה כלפי יחס ידידותי. הוא
היה סבור לתומו שלא ירחק היום וגם אני אנטיש את הישיבה
ואצטרף לשטיבלאך. הײתי מבקר אצלו בחברת אהרן פינטשובר׳
משה ררז׳עקילר ולײב פפר מװישליצה. בביקורינו המרובים
הײנו מחליפים דעות על עניני דױמא׳ אך מכל דברױ של
ר׳ יצחק ישעיה היתה בולטת התנגדותו לנו. לעומתו היה הרב
הישיש ר׳ אברהם יצחק סילמן זצ״ל מקרבנו אלױ׳ ועל אף
זקנתו המופלגת שימש לנו דואג בכל אשר פנינו. לא שונה
ממנו בעםקנותו למעננו היה גם בנו׳ הרב ר׳ יעקב׳ שהיה
מן המטיפים הגרולים לעליה לארץ ישראלן ואכן עם עלײתי
