קשה לעמוד על סיבת בחירתו של רבי ליפא בחמילניק׳
ומה עגין מצא בה במקום מגורױ. והרי גם בית־הכנםת הישן
שראשית בניתו מתיחס למעלה משמונה־מאות שנה לא הושלם
רק עד לחלונות׳ וקירות הבנין עמדו 650 שנים וחיכו לאיש
שיבוא ויגאלם משוממותם. גם פרשת בית־הכנסת סתומה
למדי. קשה להבין כיצד לא נמצא במשך תקהפה כה ארוכה
בין היהודים האמידים תושבי העיר׳ שואפי כבוד ויראי
אלקים׳ בעלי יזמה להאדרת שם מרום בםױם ״מקדש מעט״.
ומאידך יתכן שדוקא דבר זה משך את רבי ליפא להױת
ה״משביר׳/ בנדדו מעיר לעיר לאסוף כספים׳ והוא שסײם
את מפעל בית־הכנסת לבבוד ולתפארת. מה שלא הםפיקו
