בד26.6.41 לפנות ערב, ביום ו' היה זה. הגעתי לדוידהורודוק עם ידידי היקר משה שכטר,
בנו של דויד ונכדו של וולף מוכר העתונים. לא הכרתי את העיירה. מי מבני דוידהורודוק אינו
זוכר שעות אלה שלפני התקדש השבת. בעלי החנויות ממהרים לסגור עסקיהם, ובעלי המלאכה
מסיימים את מלאכתם. מכל חלון מהבהבים נרות השבת -- והכל צועדים לבתי-הּכנסת עם ילדיהם.
ועתה -- כבליל תשעה באב. חושך ואפילה בחוצות ועלדפני כל יהודי -- פחד מפני הגרמנים
