חג מתן תורה. חג קל ונעים היה. מזג האויר היה נאה. הכול קם לתחיה. הכול פורח \מלבלב,
וקשה היה לצמצם את החג במסגרת של מתן תורה ועול מצוות בלבד. הטבע השפיע את שלו

ישרים ופשוטים היו יהודי העיירה, רובם בעלי-מלאכה וסוחרים, תמימי דרך וישרי הליכות,
אשר גנב ושיכור לא יימצא, לדעתם. בין היהודים. כי בפורים ובשמחת-תורה בלבד מצוה היתה
לשתות. ואכן שמח היה אצלנו בפורים. ה,קאמפאניע" מחסידי סטולין היתה באה, ועמה אברהם-
משה השדכן. חסיד נלהב ותלמיד-חכם מובחק. מדי הופיעו היה צילינדר לראשו -- וידענו כי
לגם כמה לגימות. והיתה ה;,קאמפאניע" שותה אצלנו לחיים, והיו אנשיה משעשעים אותנו
