הפעם לא בכו נשים בעזרת הנשים, זקנים לא גנחו וילדים עמדו פעורי-פה לשמע הדברים.
ומקל היה למטיף הלזה, מקל מופלא, אשר פסוקים מהתנ"ך ומראות ירושלים חרותים על גבו.
ארץ-ישראל כולה נתקפלה כביכול במקל זה ובאה אלינו. ובהגיע המטיף לשיא התלהבותו ונפנף
במקלו לעומת הקהל, הרי נדמה היה אז, כי כך הרים אי-אז משה רבינו את מטהו וקרע את הים,
והעביר את בני ישראל בתוכו וכו' וכו'. אין זאת כי חכם-נפש היה אותו מטיף וידע, כי אינה
דומה שמיעה לראיה, על כן ,הראה" לעם את ציון. וככלותו לדבר,. שלח את ,המטה" אל בין
הקהל. בחרדת קודש עבר מיד אל יד, וגם ידי נגעו בו, ואחד מששים שבארץ-ישראל חשתי
