בכל גליל וואהלין בשם: ,ר' הירש חסיד" זצ"ל. ושמונה-עשרה שנים רצופות היה סמוך על
שולחן חותנו האוהב תורה וכל מחסורי חתנו, התלמיד חכם, היו עליו. במשך הזמן הזה שם לילות
כימים לא פסק פומיה מגירסא, עד כמה הגיעה שקידתו העצומה, מספרים זקני הדור עַל האמצעים
שאחז שלא תתקפנו שינה. בשעות המאוחרות בלילה היה יושב ולומד באחזו את הנר הדולק בין
אצבעותיו סמוך לשלהבת. וכשהיה שוכב על משכבו לנום את שנתו הקצרה וכדי שיתעורר משנתו
יחד עַם בני הבית בבקר השכם, היה שם מראשותיו את הדברים היותר נחוצים לבני הבית בבוקר
