... במחנה עצמו היו החיים מאד חבריים. מחוץ התיחסה בדרך כלל האוכלוסיה הנוצרית
לאסירים בהזדהות ובהרבה מקרים עזרו להם לברוח מהמחנה. פעמים רבות נהגו
הצרפתים לזרוק דרך החוטים עוגיות דבש (בפיטיביה קיים בית חרושת לעוגיות דבש).
14 חדשים היינו במחנה פיטיביה. הובטח לנו שכאזרחים פולניים נשאר במחנה עד אחרי
המלחמה. מזמן לזמן באו אלינו אישים צרפתיים, כדי לעודד אותנו. אבל ב־16 ליולי
1942 הוכנסנו לקרונות, 100 איש לקרון (קראו לקרון כזה ״חבילה״) והובאנו לבירקנאו.
