ונזף בעורכי״הדין ד״ר לאנדסברג ומאהל. שתמורת
כסף "השאילו את עטם" למורדי־אור. האדוקים חששו
שהנאורים ישתלטו על האוכלוסיה היהודית והחליטו
להגיש לקיסר ולפרלמנט פטיציה נגד הרב כהן שהוא
מקור כל רע וביקשו לפטרו, וגם לפזר את הנהלת
הקהל שנמצאה בידי הנאורים, שהתושבים היהודים
