אחרי שנמסר בית־הכנסת לישועים עזבו הם עם
מלויהם את הבנין. אולם הכניסה אליו והיציאה ממנו
היה רק דרך המסדרון של דירת מרדכי. וכאן חסם את
המעבר בפניהם והצהיר שרק בו תלוי הדבר להרשות
לכמרים ולמתפללים להכנם ל״כנסיה החדשה", לכן
הצעתו היא שהישועים ימכרו לו את הבנין ויבנו
את בנסיתם במקום אחר. כאשר הישועים דחו את
הצעתו הודיע להם מרדכי שרק הפעם נתן להם מעבר,
אולם להבא לא יתן לשום בן־אדם לעבור דרך
מסדרונו, היות שאין זה כלול בהוראת המלך.
הישועים מחו בו במקום נגד דבריו. מרדכי נתן להם
לצאת. אח״כ סגר את השער ולקח אליו את המפתח. ...Connected nodes
