שתי הקהלות, האשכנזית והספרדית, כבדוהו והעריצוהו על גדלו בתורה ומדותיו התרומיות ועל התקנות שהנהיג ברבנות ולטובת הקהלות. אולם, פרצה מחלוקת בינו לבין רב הקהלה הספרדית ר׳ שלמה איילון שהסכים על ספר "דברי נחמיה" מאת נחמיה חייא אחיון בעוד אשר ר׳ צבי מצא בספר דברי מינות של כת שבתי־צבי, ושוב הניח ר׳ צבי גם את הרבנות באמסטרדם ונסע ללונדון, שם נתקבל בכבוד רב ולזכרון שהותו שם צייר אומן אחד דמות דיוקנו. אבל הוא לא נשאר שם הרבה חזר לפולניה דרך עמדן, הלברשטט, ברלין וברסלוי, עד שנתקבל בשנת תע״ד לרב אב״ד בלבוב, בה הנהיג נשיאותו ברמה. גם שרי המדינה חלקו לו כבוד גדול, שלא נעשה מעולם לרב בישראל, והיה לו רשיון לדון גם דיני־נפשות, אבל לא האריך ימים על כסאו ועל הא ל אלהים בלילו יום ב׳ דרח אייר תע״ח. ...Connected nodes
