ביום ה־23 למאי 1943. כדי להבין מה טיבה של
האקציה יש לתאר את ארגון העבודה היהודית: את
כל העובדים היהודים שעוד נותרו בחיים חילקו הגרמנים
לשני מרכזי־עבודה גדולים: האחד — ה״יו״לאג".
ומשנהו — המחנה היאנובי. במחנה היו היהודים
סגורים ומסוגרים, ורק מספר "מאושרים" השתייכו
לפלוגות״חוץ ("אויסען־בריגאדען") שיצאו בכל בוקר
לעבודה מחוץ למחנה. רוב הפועלים היהודים שב״יו־
לאג", הדרים בבתי״הקסרקטין, היו מאורגנים בפלוגות"
עבודה, שיצאו לעבודה עם בוקר ושבו ללון ב״יו־לאג".
אך הגרמנים גמרו אומר לחסל את פלוגות־החוץ שב״יו־
לאג" ולהעבירן אל המחנה. שחיטה נוראה היתה במחנה
היאנובי׳ כדי לפנות בו מקום לפלוגות החדשות, ואז
יצאה הפקודה לכל פלוגות״העבודה לבוא עם ערב
למחנה׳ ולא לשוב, כרגיל׳ אל ה״יו־לאג". ימים אחדים
היו הפלוגות סגורות במחנה, אין יוצא ואין בא, וגם
פלוגות־החוץ של המחנה לא נשלחו לעבודתן העירה.
באותם הימים טבחו הגרמנים טבח שיטתי בהמון הצפוף
שנאסף במחנה׳ ושוב נכרתו אלפי נפשות. ...Connected nodes
