בשנים 1796 — 1798 הציעה הקהלה לבו ב להקים
בית־חולים יהודי. השלטונות הודיעו שכל־זמן שלא
יסלקו היהודים את חובות המסים ולא ישתתפו במלודד
המלחמה, לא יוכלו להוציא כספים לבנין בית־חילים
— ובאין בית־חולים, על ראשי הקהלה לדאוג לחולים
העניים 38). הקהלה רצתה לבנות גם ביהדמחסה
לעניים ופנתה אל השלטונות בבקשה להרשות לה
להטיל על חוכרי מס־הבשר — היינצמן, קראטר
וקופלר — תשלום גרוש פולני אחד לכל קילו בשר,
