הכהן רפפורט. רב בזיטל, סלוצק, ובשנת תק״א
(1741) נקרא למשרת אב״ד בלבוב והגליל כממלא־
מקום אביו, והוא זכה להאריך ימים על כסאו כשלשים
שנה. בשנות כהונתו ברבנות־העיר, שימש בנד ר׳
אריה־ליב כריש־מתיבתא ונפטר בחיי אביו בסיון
תק״ט. ר׳ חיים כהן נחשב בימיו לאביר הגאונים ירבו
שואליו בהלכה מקרוב ומרחוק. בשנת תקי״ט (1759)
הוכרח לעמוד בויכוח עם אנשי כת יעקב פרנק ולהגן
על התלמוד. היה פעיל בועד ארבע־ארצות. חלק
מתשובותיו נדפס אחרי זמן רב בשם "שו״ת רח״כ"
(לבוב תרכ״א), וגם חלק מדרשותיו בשם "זכר חיים"
(לבוב תרכ״ו). עלה לחיי עד י״ג תמוז תקל״א. ...Connected nodes
