העיתון ״משמר״ מיום ר, י״ד ניסן תש״ד, 7 באפריל 944 ו, ובו תחת
כותרת גדולה בעמוד הראשון "שוחררה סקאלה", כתוב: "כליון
חרוץ צפוי לדיביזיות הגרמניות המכותרות. מודיעים רשמית
(ממוסקבה) כי סקאלה, מדרום־מזרח לטארנופול, שוחררה. עיר זו
היא במלכודת בה נתפשו 5 ו הדיביזיות הגרמניות. בקרבות אלה
לקחו הסובייטים שלל רב. מדרום־מערב לטארנופול הדפו צבאות
ז׳וקוב התקפות חזקות של האויב שניסה לפרוץ ולהציל את
הכוחות המכותרים. לאויב נגרמו אבידות קשות". קראנו
והתרגשנו והזלנו דמעות רותחות בזוכרנו כי גם שחרור זה ונצחון
זה של הצדק ההיסטורי על הרשע המפלצתי עלה לנו בקרבנות
