הסכמתו לפעילות זו והוחל בהקמת מטבח (במרתף בית הכנסת
"פורט־ארתור"), באיסוף לחם יום־יום, לעניים המרודים, בגדים
למשלוח למחנות וכד׳. עזרו לי בכך חיים הירש וחיים מייזלמן
ונדמה היה כי נוספה עוד לבנה למבנה הרעוע של הצלת אנשים
מסכנים מחרפת רעב וקור. אלא שפעולה זו לא הוכתרה בהצלחה
