מידעם כינונו החלה״יודנראט" לבצע את הפקודות של
מפקד "משמר הגבול" ואת מידותיו. תוך יום אחד, בהתאם
לדרישה, סופקו לו החפצים והמצרכים כמפורט לעיל, ויש לציין כי
הצבור ברובו הבין שמוטב להמציאם מרצונו הטוב ואף ללא
תמורה. אולם בגבור הסחיטות והדרישות נתקלה״יודנראט"
בסירוב ובהתנגדות והוא הפעיל את ה״אורדנונגסדינסט". ה״יודנ ־
ראט" מינה "וועדת כספים" שהעריכה יכולתו של כל יהודי, ולפי
זה הטילה מסים על הכל, כדי לצבור תקציב שממנו ישולם עבור
החפצים והמוצרים שהוחרמו, וכך יחולק העול הכבד בין כולם.
אחרי חג הפסח 1942, צרף ה״יודנראט" לוועדה זו כמה חברים
מחוצה לו והם: מקס שטרנברג, יחיאל שוורצבך וסאמי השלס. ...Connected nodes
