בימי שלטונו של המלך יאן קזימייז׳ נכבשה העיר כמה פעמים ע״י הטאטארים, הוולוכים, התורכים והקוזקים של בוגדן חמילניצקי, נהרסה שוב עד היסוד ותושביה נרצחו או נלקחו בשבי. המבצר הסקאלי ניזוק אמנם, אולם שוקם וחוזק שוב ושוב. בשנת 1665 נערך מיפקד, ממנו הסתבר שבעיר יושבו רק 5 משפחות, ואילו המבצר, אף כי חזק ומוגן ע״י חומה ומגדלי שמירה, עומד ריק. המפקד האחרון שעוד נערך ע״י השלטון הפולני בשנת 1765, מוסר כי בעיר סקאלה יושבים רק יהודים(!) העוסקים ב״ארנךה״, חכירה, במסחר זעיר וברוכלות. המבצר ההרוס נבנה מחדש כארמון ע״י "הסטרוסטה" אדם טרלו, אולם כעבור כמה שנים נשרף בהפגעו מברק ולא שוקם עוד. חומותיו הבצורות עדיין עומדות על תלן. בשנת 1772 עברה סקאלה עם האזור כולו לשלטון אוסטרי היתה זאת שנת החלוקה הראשונה של פולין. ...Connected nodes
