המלך הפולני קזימיר הגדול כבש את פודוליה ומסר את סקאלה
לנסיך קוריאטוביץ׳ בשנת 3ב1ר. הנסיך בנה את המבצר מחדש
וקיימת סברה כי כבר אז התישבו כמה יהודים ליד המבצר וסיפקו
לו את צרכיו בשנת 1395 ערך הנסיך הליטאי הגדול וויטולד מסע
נגד הנסיך קוריאטוביץ׳, כבש כמה ישובים מבוצרים וביניהם את
סקאלה והושיב בה את בני עמו. עם מותו של וויטולד ב־1430 כבשו
הפולנים את המבצר הסקלאי ומאז ועד 1772 השתייך כל האזור
לממלכת פולין סקאלה היתה נתונה לכבושים ולהרס בלתי
פוסקים מצד הטאטארים והוולוכים (הרומנים), ועדויות לכך
נמצאות בכתבי זכויות(קיומים) שניתנו מדי פעם ע״י מלכי פולין
לתושבי העיירה לפיהם משוחררים הם מתשלומים שונים לטובת
אוצר המדינה באשר ישוב־ספר זה סובל קשות מהתנפלויות
אויבים. כתבי זכויות אלה נמצאים בארכיון ממלכת פולין
