... אולם חל שינוי במצב המדיני. הגרמנים נסוגו והשלטון
עבר לידי הפולנים, והללו הסתבכו במלחמה עם הרוסים.
בתחילה האירה ההצלחה את פניה לפולנים וברדיפתם
אחרי הרוסים הגיעו עד שערי קיוב, אך מיד התהפך
הגלגל, והרודפים היו לבורחים והתחילו להתקרב בחפזון
לסביבת עירנו. כדי להציל את הזהב נטמן חלק גדול
ממנו בקרקע באחת החצרות. הרוסים הגיעו לעיר
והחלו מחפשים בבתים ובאחד מהם נתגל הת אוצר־חזהב.
התחיל משא־ומתן עם ראש ה״ריבקום "("ועד המהפכה" )
שהיה יהודי, בחור ישר וגם נוטה לציונות, על החזרת
הזהב. התברר שהוא בכלל לא הובא לאוצר השלטון,
כי אחד מן הפקידים לקח לו את הזהב לעצמו, ובעוד
החקירה נמשכת, הוכו הרוסים ליד פרגה, והתחילה
נסיגה מבוהלת, ואתה נעלם גם הזהב.Connected nodes
