היו בה 4 בתי ספר עבריים המכונים "חדר מתוקן". של
המורה הלל לוין, של המורה נתנאל קפלן, של המורה
נחום קונשט ושל המורה חיים ירושבסקי(הקושער). בתי
ספר הללו הקנו לילדי עירנו תורה ודעת, ערכי חינוך
ותרבות, הפיחו בהם את רוח הציונות ועוררו להגשמה
חלוצית. ואכן, רבים מבני עירנו הגשימו את הציונות,
למעשה, הם קמו ועלו לארץ והתאזרחו בה. כמעט כל
אנשי סוקולקה ידעו לדבר עברית. "החדר המתוקן" לא
דחק את רגלי ה״חדרים" ו״תלמוד־תורה" בהם למדו
