אם נחשב הבנדין מבצר חסידי בפולין הקונגרסאית, הרי
שימשה בה חסידות גור כמגדלור. רוב פרנסי העיר, עסקניה
ולמדניה השתייכו לחסידות גור. שלשה בתי חסידים לחסידי גור
היו בעיר וכולם מלאים וגדושים מתפללים. ברם, כמרכזם שימש
השטיבל הגדול — שם מצאו מקומם זקני החסידים מימות ה״שפת
אמת" זצ״ל, גדולי הלמדנים וה״פני" של חסידי גור בעיר. השטיבל
הגדול ריכז כ־500 מתפללים קבועים ובראשו עמד הגבאי ר׳ אהרן
