הרבי הזקן ביקר פעם בבנדין לרגל סיום ספר־תורה מיסודו
של ר׳ מרדכי דוד גרוחובינה, ואף התאכסן בביתו. השמחה היתה
אז גדולה במעוני החסידים. היה זה אחרי פטירת המר א דאתרא
ר׳ הירש־הניך לוין. כרגיל התחילה מחלוקת בין חסידי גור לאנשי
אגודת־ישראל לביו חסידי אלכסנדר ואנשי "המזרחי". שני הצדדים
הציגו מועמדים למשרת רב ראשי בבנדין. עסקנים משני הצדדים
באו לרבי מחנצ׳ין שישפיע על החסידים, ובפרט על חסידי חנצ׳ין,
שיתמוך במועמדיהם. והרבי פנה לשני הצדדים בזה הלשון: "אני
הכרתי "יהודים טובים" שכל מה שרצו לפעול פעלו בדרך התפילה,
וליד השולחן בלי פוליטיקה". וכה מנע מחסידי חנצ׳ין לנקוט בעמדה
מפורשת בכל מיני סכסוכים ומחלוקת. ...Connected nodes
