אחרי פטירתו של ר׳ חנוך הכהן לוין הצדיק מאלכסנדר בשנת
תר״ל, שנה ג שנים מעטות אחרי פטירת ה״חידושי הרי״מ״ מגור,
הלך חלק מחסידיו לרבי פנחס אליהו, אב״ד בפילץ, בעל אחותו
של רבי לייב (בעל "שפת אמת" מגור) והוא המשיך בשיטת גור,
שדרכה היתה בהתלהבות ובחריפות של קוצק בתוספת כמה מידות
של גור. בזמנו של ר׳ פנחס ניטשטשו התחומים בין גור ופילץ.
החסידים נסעו פעם לגור ופעם לפילץ. ולימות חג השבועות או
לימים־נוראים אפשר היה לפגוש בפילץ מאות חסידים מעשירי
לודז׳ ופביאניץ שנחשבו לוותיקי גור, ועל אף המרחק היו באים
לפילץ ומביאים עמם את אוירת גור, החריפות והחמימות, עד שלא
ניכר היה כל הבדל, ולא אחת היה הרושם כמו העבירה גור את
