man and Chairman of the Jewish Council in Bialystok,
I served as the Chairman of the Zionist Organization.
During the last winter of the Kehilla’s existence in 1938-
39, elections for the Bialystok Municipal Council were
held. I was elected, together with the late Ruwen
Nachumowskli, to the Municipal Council. We also had
to fight for Jewish rights there. In the Council, two
