בשנת תרע״ה׳ קודם חג הםוכות, התנהלו קרבות בין שני
האויבים בקרבת אוזירוב. הדרכים אל העיר ומתוכה הױ
בחזקת סכנה. אך הדאגה לאתרוג לימי הםוכות לא נתנה לו
מנוח׳ ומשהגיע לידי עשית מצוה לא החמיצה בלי לחוס על
טרחא דגופא או על הוצאות יתירות׳ ובעצמו נחפז למצוא לו
אתרוג מהודר. וכן נהג באפית המצות ובטחינתן ובכל ענין.
