בשנת 1918 נתקײמו בכל ערי פולין אםפות־עם גדולות׳
בהן באו לידי ביטוי דרישות העם היהודי שהופנו לועידה בםן
רימו. גם בקילצה התכנםה אםפת־עם גדולה באולם ״תיאטר
פולםקי״. הײתי נוכח באותה אסיפה כאשר םתאום פרצו לתוכה
פורעים מהלגױן הפולגי ומתנדבי הצבא עם אלות ונשק. החל
הפוגרום המפורסם אשר הביא למםפר רב של פצועים והרוגים.
גם אני קבלתי מכות, אך איך־שהוא הסתלקתי מהמקים
ונמלטתי כל עוד גפשי בי. אמרתי אז בלביו הגיע הזמן
