... הבכור ר׳ יוחנן הי״ד, חתנו של האדמו״ר מניישטאט, כיהן ברב
בעיר זו, איש ירא־־שמים גדול, בעל הוראה ואב לבנים רבנים
בישראל. בנו ר׳ דוד ז״ל, חתנו של הגאון הקדוש מאוםטרובצה,
היה רב בגוסטיגין. ר׳ דוד היה עילוי נפלא מימי ילדותו.
סיםר לי רבנו זצ״ל, שהגאון ר׳ ױםף אגגל מבנדין היה פעם
בחמילניק, ר׳ דוד בנו היה אז בן תשע. דיבר עמו הרב אנגל
הרבה שעות בדברי תורה, — בגמרו נשק לילד על ראשו
ואמר לו : ״צלח ורכב בתורה כי כשרונותיך כבשרונותױ של
ר׳ עקיבא אײגר״. ר׳ דוד ז״ל נפטר כבן חמישים והניח דור
ישרים מבורך ובתוכם בנו הרב ר׳ משה ישראל סילמן, רב
